school of dsquared. teen rebellion in the 60s is the inspiration behind dean & dan caten’s amazing fall campaign for dsquared. shot at london’s ragged school museum, a good looking group of unruly students defy all the rules while sporting brushed mohair sweaters, cropped pants, leather gloves, sparkly heels & wicked cat eye glasses. disorderly conduct at it’s best!

this post is dedicated to my best friend/sister; my number one in this life & the next.
eternal optimism. from pastels to patterns to pops of colour, the pervasive message for spring it the power of positive dressing — très betty-draper chic.

week-end à rome. high waist pant & crop top is the perfect combination for a figure like lara stone’s. channeling the european bombshell from the 50s & 60s, her roman holiday is more brigitte bardot than audrey hepburn.

fantasy lookbook. in 1956 richard hamilton produced a photomontage; a mash-up of comics, newspapers, advertising, cars, food, celebrities, sex, space age, television & movies. it’s considered to be one of the earliest works of the pop art movement. hamilton’s collages commented on popular culture, mass-production & consumerism — precisely what pop art was all about.
prada’s latest lookbook for spring 2012 doesn’t just reference 50s & 60s fashion revivals, but rather a faithful collage of pop culture of the day: space race, modern metropolis, quote from martin luther king, newspaper clipping, advertising & of course, the american dream. the lookbook suggests that prada’s collection wasn’t just drawing its inspiration from the aesthetics of the 50s & 60s but from how society saw itself.
lindsey wixson, anais pouliot, ruby aldridge, kasia struss, ginta lapina, abbey lee kershaw, fei fei sun & daphne groeneveld shot by phil meech, artworks by jereon koolhaas & lok jansen for prada.

while her spring/summer 2012 collection enraptured w/serpentine appeal, her latest does so w/flowery softness. maria francesca pepe ‘can’t but me love’ fall/winter 2012 is the perfect mix of innocence & malfeasance. rose garlands, fringed hair & thick lower lashes give off a 60s flower child vibe, but there’s also a subtle gothicism to the black crucifixes, body chains & leather.

parisian cafés, five-star picnics & finding love during a two-hour déj (lunch) break — this is reality in paris…maybe not, but a stiff reality nonetheless. elements from 1930 through 1960 mix beautifully in louis vuitton cruise 2012 ad campaign. arizona muse’s wavy bob, retro-inspired clothes, cat eye liner & traditional vuitton push the label beyond unoriginal.
my dear parisian girlfriend, katy, recently acquired her first ‘vuitton’ (pronounce w/french accent). this post is dedicated to her new acquisition & all things luxe.
félicitations à katy ! ‘tchin-tchin’ à la bonne vie !— the best is yet to come!
arizona muse shot by mike segal, styled by julie de libran for louis vuitton.
