spring/summer is a good season for uber feminine ulyana sergeenko, editor at glamour russia. her designs are a reminder of the best a woman can get. each piece highlights the best in any figure & is crafted lovingly by sergeenko herself. though she is reasonably unknown, russian model natalia vodianova often champions sergeenko’s pieces & wears them perfectly.

her 1950s-vintage, ultra-feminine collection debut had me swooning! & sergeenko has me swooning again. “brigitte bardot visits russia” is the inspiration behind spring/summer 2012. the collection reflects swimwear & beachwear silhouettes & is filled w/an abundance of flirty fabrics & girly prints. sergeenko manages to deliver ridiculement chic pieces once again.

inside a cali girl’s closet. lauren conrad has moved on to many notable endeavors beyond reality tv. mtv’s reality show, the hills foreshadowed conrad’s design career. her latest design project, paper crown is a translation of conrad’s signature style into a specialty line of vintage & lingerie-inspired pieces. although she’s a self-declared “non-romantic,” the feminine collection definitely embraces romance & ethereal goodness.

alberta ferretti pre-fall 2012 shows off an exquisitely feminine woman who captivates w/her sense of elegance & refined lightness. modern style in terms of the precision of cuts, the exactness of volumes & the ease of contrasting combinations, slightly muted by a touch of 20s retro.

elie saab couture spring 2012 is even more diaphanous than prior seasons. the slimmer lines & embroidered patterns of his long flowing skirts (saab’s specialty) are sweet, brilliant & virginal. tone-on-tone embroidery of sparkling flowers give a lighter feel compared to his recent couture collections. on the runway he showed full-skirted party frocks & slim evening gowns in a rainbow of pastel shades, nearly all of them sparkly. what separates one from the next is the cut of the neckline, presence or absence of sleeves, length of a train & the occasional cape. the oversize botanical print is nearly regarded as an afterthought amid the white, pink, peach, yellow, green & blue. despite all the handwork, these dresses—w/the exception of an uncharacteristically heavy wedding gown—appear almost weightless.

mastery of couture & roman bourgeois are unforgettably twisted within giambattista valli couture spring 2012. flowers wandering over the shoulders of a white crêpe cape echoes the abstemious opulence of roman legend roberto capucci. meanwhile, the strapless polka-dot dress draped to one side & exploding into a puff of fabric at the shoulder is expressive of ungaro’s atelier where the fashion extraordinaire formerly labored. valli embraces ava gardner’s old hollywood glamour in his strapless, wide-skirted billow of floral mousseline while the columns of silk w/draped shoulders pay tribute to the actress’ elegance.
