gucci pre-fall 2012 is a subdued, flowing & minimalist interpretation of the jazz age, an era channeled by fashion designer extraordinaire, frida giannini. her follow-up collection for fall includes a medley of straight minimalism, vibrant red matched w/variations of grey, brown, beige & white & a youthful poppy print – the exemplary mix fit for the direction of the season. & of course!, it wouldn’t be gucci w/out extravagant, affluent furs. my fave piece: natural red fox jacket inlaid w/a black chevron design (look no. 5) – i’d die.

the female downtown city slicker venturing to the english countryside wears the row pre-fall 2012. contents in her croc skin overnight bag include trim button-down w/jockey detail, slim jodhpur legging, leather turtleneck, wool dress & enough fur to drape her body head to toe. mary-kate & ashley call it “equestrian-meets-aristocrat.” i call it “my-five-figure-shopping-list.”

post presenting pre-fall 2012 in new york, giambattista valli will return to paris where he has two weeks to complete his second haute couture collection & six weeks to wrap up fall. valli snubs to look at the workload as anything other than a privilege since he knows his mood will reverberate through the clothes.
i would die going about my day in wide leg trousers topped w/chevron fur vest. or rather, the gold brocade dress w/trompe l’oeil tweed-print nylons & any black persian lamb & tinted mink draped over my shoulders.
