shadows. black & white prints keep mystery where colour might tell the whole truth. jurij treskow’s shots of tania onishchenko have just that captivating quality. a few simple pieces w/out colour are paired w/strong black eyeshadow create an impression of 1970s glamour.

dora abodi fall 2012 is a collection that’s ahead of time & marked by fine details & craftsmanship. there’s a mix of themes & eras that could (1) be something you’d picture clinging to the body of cleopatra & (2) something that might have been dreamed up in the art deco era. abodi’s dresses are body-con, peplumed, gently shimmering w/metallic glamour; exotically futuristic in their shapes & details.

1920s as viewed through the eyes of the 1970s. while nonexistent is my understanding of the japanese language, i’m left w/out an official introduction for this editorial. it’s obviously 70s styling twisted aside 20s to convey a particular melancholy. it does so not just w/moody lighting or pensive facial expressions, but w/theatrical poses & equally theatrical makeup. the combination makes you feel like what you’re viewing is in fact a 20s pantomime what w/natasha poly’s blanked out eyebrows & cavernous creases on the eye lids. w/20s fashion being one of the decades to be experiencing a revival, it makes sense that what we end up w/is something akin to the 20s as viewed through the eyes of the 70s. & as it shows, that’s a styling mix that works quite naturally together.

a woman’s love of all things luxurious. getting pleasure out of the eccentricity of one who dresses glamorously even at home, model lola van vorst becomes a queen of all things luxe. clad in candy-coloured lingerie pieces by australian label ms couture, we’re reminded that luxury begins close to the skin & doesn’t stop when you kick your shoes off as you walk in the front door.

spring/summer is a good season for uber feminine ulyana sergeenko, editor at glamour russia. her designs are a reminder of the best a woman can get. each piece highlights the best in any figure & is crafted lovingly by sergeenko herself. though she is reasonably unknown, russian model natalia vodianova often champions sergeenko’s pieces & wears them perfectly.
her 1950s-vintage, ultra-feminine collection debut had me swooning! & sergeenko has me swooning again. “brigitte bardot visits russia” is the inspiration behind spring/summer 2012. the collection reflects swimwear & beachwear silhouettes & is filled w/an abundance of flirty fabrics & girly prints. sergeenko manages to deliver ridiculement chic pieces once again.

side-part 1970s brushed-out curls w/added softness — a voluminous, ethereal & glamorous coiffe, wearable night or day.
to mimic lily hart’s delicately brushed-out mane: use hair pins to section off horizontal partings starting at the base of the neck. curl hair into tight curls using a small curling iron. continue curling horizontal partings up to ear level. when curling top layers of hair, drag the curls down to eye or ear level (depending where you want the volume to start). dragging the curls will create a build up of weight for the curls & add a flatness to the top of the head. once all the hair is curled, softly brush out the curls w/a soft cushion brush. adjust width & shape of hair to desired shape. hairspray in place.
there’s more! spotted on paris’ fashion week 2012 runway at sonia rykiel: ’40s-meets-’70s coiffe.

ulyana sergeenko, editor at glamour russia, collection debut has me swooning (i swore i would never use this word, but this collection breaks the rules). sergeenko’s 1950s-vintage, ultra-feminine collection is très chic, ridiculement, w/an abundance of silk, wool, chiffon & velvet furs (which i’m irrevocably hearting). featured in this post are my fave looks/mlle’s ‘i need’ list.
