bally pre-fall 2012 offers the right balance between style & functionality. leather is protagonist next to fur for a charming textural mix of patchwork coats & quilted jackets. masculine suits show unusual nappa leather lapels. bell skirts are covered in shiny fabrics. a floral print in lively colours makes its way into the mix as well. the collection’s complement? minimalist handbags, shoes & accessories made of luxe materials.

mcq pre-fall 2012. sarah burton revives mcq w/muted details of mcqueen ornamental fanfare. inspired by the victorian english countryside costumes in 1967 film far from the madding crowd. burton adds modern edge & manages to execute a collection of cropped leather gloves, wide belts w/chains, heavy black ankle boots, white puffy sleeved blouses, bouclé tailed blazers, ruffles, exposed zippers against burgundy leather pants, quilted biker jackets & rich velvet anoraks – a dark aristocrat style wearable & accessible to mcqueen fans.

chanel paris-bombay pre-fall 2012 is a collection elucidating karl lagerfeld’s idea of india. the maestro of couture amalgamates the coco days of chanel & the ethnicities of a country dissimilar to his own to inexplicably fabricate timeless style. lagerfeld reveals “it’s all about refinements[…]most of the inspiration is from indian mens clothes [as] they’re easier to wear.”
fashion history 101: in ‘97, chanel acquired seven workshops: desrues, lemarié, lesage, massaro, michel, goossens & guillet — altogether accountable for the expertise behind the label. the annual métiers d’art show (i.e. chanel paris-bombay pre-fall 2012), is karl lagerfeld’s accolade to the craftspeople that make chanel happen.
featured in this post is photographic indication of the partnership of lagerfeld, the chanel atelier & the workshops. together they attest that “more is more when bombay takes on the classics.” (check out the henna printed gloves. did i mention the models walked the runway decked in henna printed hosiery?)

giovanna randall’s honor pre-fall 2012 collection debut was motivated by somewhat boyish prints & 90s minimalist tailoring. her collection is a change from the never-ground-breaking floral prints. think paint strokes in unexpected colours against a white canvas, paired w/neutrals & womens approach on mens tailoring — all of which remain feminine. fitting bodices, defined waists & full skirts; randall’s collection is best matched w/hourglass curves.
we’ve seen the shapes & colours; however, randall combines & transforms these elements to reflect a fresh vision. expect to carry over your 2011 pieces into fall 2012.
photograph featuring two models: base pieces for a gucci-femme-meets-gucci-homme sartorial look; just add tinted long-hair furssss, detailed gloves, rich leather & gold costume jewelry. & don’t forget the dark painted lips — you’ll look & feel like a billion dollars, dahling!
