carlie waterman spring/summer 2012 is an eclectic mix of textures inspired by the natural landscape of melbourne, australia. traditional crafts of hand weaving, smocking, knitting, embroidery & fabric manipulation have been employed using leather, wool, silk, raffia & plastic. the collection contrasts pop citrus colours & bright whites w/pastel lilacs & nudes.

by use of infrared photography, a technique that has the ability to reveal what they eye can’t see, yiu yu hoi paints the city of hong kong in a pink cotton candy dream. hoi seeks out trees, making them look vibrant in their pink-ish tone. “the trees[…]are bluish straight out of the camera. a more natural reddish tone could be available by simply swapping blue & red channels in photoshop[…]a powerful way to develop coloured infrared photos.”
