by use of infrared photography, a technique that has the ability to reveal what they eye can’t see, yiu yu hoi paints the city of hong kong in a pink cotton candy dream. hoi seeks out trees, making them look vibrant in their pink-ish tone. “the trees[…]are bluish straight out of the camera. a more natural reddish tone could be available by simply swapping blue & red channels in photoshop[…]a powerful way to develop coloured infrared photos.”

many hotels around the world offer guests the chance to get closer to nature, but only this one[…]lets them disappear within it.

treehotel, sweden. in the middle of harad’s untouched forest exists five tree houses each uniquely designed w/a view of the luke river valley.

treehotel was motivated by the film the tree lover, a tale of three city men building a tree house to discover their origins – a philanthropic tale about the importance of trees for human existence.

scandinavian architects collaborate w/treehotel to design rooms built on trees w/out destroying or cutting down the forest. the uniquely designed tree rooms are made w/chemical-free materials & construction techniques that cause minor ecological impact as possible.

featured in this post are images of the cabin, the bird’s nest, the mirrorcube & the ufo.

ne touche pas les ‘butterflies’ !” come winter, monarch butterflies migrate 4,500kms south of the canadian rockies to santuario sierra chincua — a butterfly sanctuary in michoacán, mexico.

10,000ft above sea level, a path escorts climbers uphill to the santuario. at the end of the trail, millions of monarchs rest from their long flight. what appears like orange leaves on a tree are in fact clusters of butterflies, so many that an evergreen’s branches wilt from the weight.
